Advertised Job Summary

The College of Pharmacy is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team.

Under limited supervision, the Postdoctoral Fellow conducts advanced neuroscience research in support of an NIH-funded project investigating neurobiological responses of somatostatin neuronal circuits to environmental light disruptions during pubertal development. The position exists to generate high-quality experimental data using behavioral, in vivo imaging, and molecular techniques in pre-clinical models to advance understanding of circadian rhythms and neurotransmitter plasticity. The primary goal is to produce reproducible research findings and contribute to scientific publications and grant-supported research outcomes.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Expertise in rodents and/or circadian rhythms, protein and histological analyses, molecular biology, microscopy techniques and behavioral analysis.
  • Dedication to basic research with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and able to work both independently and in a team.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Conduct laboratory and pre-clinical research activities to support NIH-funded neuroscience studies, to include behavioral analysis, stereotaxic surgery, in vivo calcium imaging, brain tissue collection, confocal microscopy, and quantitative data analysis using scientific software (e.g., Prism, SPSS, ImageJ, MatLab, ClockLab), to generate high-quality data supporting project objectives.

Maintain accurate and detailed research records; analyze and interpret experimental data; prepare research progress reports; and disseminate findings through lab meetings, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
