Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Conduct advanced research in the modeling, simulation, and analysis of electrochemical energy storage systems, including lithium-ion, lithium-sulfur, and other emerging battery technologies. Develop and validate physics-based electrochemical, thermal, transport, and electrochemical impedance models to investigate battery performance, degradation, safety, diagnostics, and lifetime. Support sponsored research projects funded by federal agencies, industry, and other external organizations through computational modeling, data analysis, supervision of student researchers, proposal development, and dissemination of research findings.

Job Duty
Conduct research in electrochemical energy storage systems by developing, implementing, validating, and applying physics-based mathematical and computational models of lithium-ion, lithium-sulfur, and other advanced battery chemistries. Analyze experimental data, perform simulations, interpret results, and collaborate with faculty, students, sponsors, and research partners to achieve project objectives. Present research progress during project meetings, group meetings, and individual meetings with the Principal Investigator

Design, develop, and maintain computational tools and modeling frameworks. Prepare technical reports, assist with proposal development, contribute to project planning and management, and support sponsored research activities.

Provide day-to-day technical leadership and mentorship to graduate students, undergraduate researchers, research assistants, and visiting scholars. Coordinate research activities, review technical work products, ensure adherence to laboratory and research protocols, and assist faculty with project management.

Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, present research findings at conferences and sponsor meetings, and communicate technical results through reports, seminars, and other scholarly activities.
