Post-Doctoral Research Position in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Integrative Physiology, or a closely related discipline. - (260000RP)

A full time Post-Doctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Forman in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore immediately.

This position is ideal for an early-to-mid-career scientist who has recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship and is looking for a role that bridges high-level collaborative science with career independence. You will play a role in an active R01-funded program (NIH- NIA grant Adjuvant Nitrate to Boost Exercise-induced Health Benefits in Older Adults ) while having the mentorship, resources, and intellectual freedom to develop your own independent grant proposals (e.g., K-awards, R21, or R01). The initial role will provide effort on an NIH-funded multicenter clinical trial (BOOST-X), a randomized trial evaluating whether dietary nitrate supplementation enhances the benefits of combined endurance and resistance exercise training in older adults.

    Key Responsibilities

    • R01 Project Leadership: Oversee and execute core experiments, protocol design, and data management for an ongoing, NIH-funded R01 project.
    • Independent Research Development: Conceptualize and pilot independent scientific questions that align with the broader lab mission; actively prepare and submit mentored or independent grant applications.
    • Scientific Dissemination: Lead the writing, submission, and revision of high-impact peer-reviewed manuscripts; present research findings at major national and international conferences.
    • Mentorship & Supervision: Assist in training and guiding graduate students, other postdoctoral fellows, and research technicians in advanced exercise physiology methodologies and scientific writing.
    • Methodological Oversight: Maintain high standards of laboratory techniques (e.g., invasive/non-invasive exercise testing, metabolic profiling, muscle biopsies, vascular testing, or molecular analyses).

If interested, please email a CV, a short statement of research interests, and the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Daniel Forman - DForman@som.umaryland.edu
