The University of Alaska Southeast, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to help carry out research on the "One Health Community-based Toxicant Assessment for Select NW Alaska Residents: Environmental Contaminants". This postdoc position is funded through Teck Alaska Incorporated.
The postdoc will be responsible for collecting samples from subsistence foods donated by community members and analyzing data on organic and inorganic contaminants in traditional foods. The postdoc will be responsible for arranging field logistics to remote communities, collecting and processing sub-samples of fish and other biota harvested for subsistence, conducting public outreach to community members to present findings and be responsive to community concerns. The fellow will conduct original research using contaminant data generated from community samples. The fellow will also share and communicate summaries and research findings to Tribal and other partners and communities. Specific duties include:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have (i) earned a PhD in a relevant scientific field or complete a PhD within 4 months of onboarding and (ii) a peer-reviewed publication record that is commensurate with experience.
Experience conducting environmental, chemical, biological, or fisheries related field work?
Position Details:
This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt, 12-month post doctoral position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
