Distant Moon — Post Operations Manager | Leesburg, VA
Distant Moon is an award-winning production company seeking a Post Manager to support the operational and organizational side of post-production across documentary, commercial, and narrative projects.
This role is focused on the backend systems, organization, asset management, and operational support that help keep post-production running efficiently behind the scenes. We're looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing project data, media assets, workflows, and operational tracking across multiple active productions.
This role works closely with post-production leadership, editors, producers, and operations teams to help maintain organized systems, accurate tracking, and smooth day-to-day workflows throughout the post-production process.
What You'll Do
- Support post-production teams through project tracking, operational coordination, and backend workflow management
- Maintain copyright directories, licensing records, archival documentation, and media clearance tracking across active projects
- Organize, track, relink, and maintain archival footage, stock assets, licensed media, project files, and external deliverables
- Assist with media management, project backups, archival workflows, and asset organization across productions
- Help maintain project schedules, spreadsheets, operational records, and post-production tracking systems
- Support budget tracking, reporting preparation, project wrap processes, and operational documentation
- Coordinate with editors, producers, and post leadership to help keep projects organized and operationally supported throughout post-production
What We're Looking For
- Approximately 2–4+ years of experience supporting creative operations, media management, post-production coordination, project administration, or related operational environments
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable managing spreadsheets, project tracking systems, file organization, and operational workflows across multiple active projects
- Familiarity with media organization, archival workflows, licensing documentation, or asset management processes
- Comfortable working in fast-moving creative environments with shifting priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to support multiple teams simultaneously
- Self-directed, dependable, process-oriented, and highly organized
Relevant creative industry, media operations, production coordination, or post-production support experience may be considered in place of traditional post-production backgrounds.
Bonus Experience
- Experience supporting post-production, media management, editorial, or production operations teams
- Familiarity with Teamwork, Airtable, Frame.io, Google Workspace, or similar workflow systems
- Experience working with media assets, archival materials, stock footage, licensing workflows, or project tracking systems
- Previous experience in documentary, agency, commercial, or digital media environments

Work Environment
Distant Moon operates from a purpose-built creative studio in Leesburg, Virginia designed specifically for filmmakers, editors, and storytellers. Our workspace was intentionally built to support collaboration, focused editorial work, production planning, and creative development across all stages of filmmaking.
This is an in-person role working alongside directors, editors, producers, and creatives in a highly collaborative studio environment. The space includes dedicated edit suites, production areas, collaborative workspaces, and creative gathering spaces designed to support both focused work and team collaboration.
While much of the role involves desk-based editorial work, team members may occasionally assist with production-related activities, equipment movement, or on-set support as needed.
