Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.


Additional Department Summary: Provides clinical mental health services to students as assigned by the Counseling Center at the University of Alabama. This includes direct counseling services (individual, couple, group, and crisis services). Participates in Crisis Consultation and Screening (CCS) team and provides same-day crisis services. Participates in outreach services to members of the University community as needed. Rotates on-call throughout the year for the purpose of crisis intervention services and will require some after hours work (2 weeks out of the year). Works with people in distress and encounters life-threatening emergencies routinely (intervenes with a student who is acutely suicidal and making threats in their residential area, etc.). Participates in supporting the training program for graduate students and psychology interns as directed. Completes all required documentation of services as outlined by center procedure. Maintains knowledge and adhere to all policies and procedures as contained in the Counseling Center Policy and Procedure Manual. Completes required trainings and promote a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace.

This is a Psychology Postdoctoral position designed for recent graduates of a clinical or counseling psychology program to provide additional supervised clinical experience. This position is time limited (1 year) and non-renewable.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Completed degree requirements in a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program, including internship, by the start of the position.


Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students. Knowledge of college student development theory and current trends in collegiate mental health practices.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a collegiate mental health setting.
