Job Description

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the department of GI Medical Oncology.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will assist the Principal Investigator with clinical, translational, and basic scientific research projects. The incumbent will function in an independent manner in the design and initiation of research experiments and will design, develop, or adapt equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. Responsibilities include determining specific goals and objectives, evaluating research data, and developing and revising techniques or approaches to address research challenges.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will interface with the electronic medical record and databases containing tissue samples and tumor molecular data. The role includes planning training and research activities for assigned laboratory and research personnel, supervising the use of laboratory equipment, and implementing laboratory safety procedures. The incumbent will compile, write, and submit project results for publication; independently prepare grant applications; and assist the Principal Investigator in the development and submission of grant proposals. The Postdoctoral Fellow will collaborate with both experimental and computational members of the laboratory.

Additionally, the Postdoctoral Fellow will:

a. Independently propose innovative solutions to research projects and contribute to project objectives through computational analyses. The incumbent must be willing and able to learn, adapt, and apply existing bioinformatics tools to support assigned research projects.

b. Interpret, present, and report research findings at internal meetings and, when appropriate, at external scientific conferences.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Graduate degree in medicine, science, engineering field or bioinformatics.

Candidate must have recently (within three years) completed their education (doctorate) or completed previous postdoctoral experience or graduate medical education.

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience. Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time based on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements.
