Postdoctoral Fellow in Neurodevelopmental Health & Education

The Clemson University College of Education invites applications for an exciting Postdoctoral Fellow position in Neurodevelopmental Health and Education. This collaborative, interdisciplinary appointment is based primarily at the Prisma Health Center for Neurodevelopmental Health at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, with strong connections to Clemson University and ClemsonLIFE (Learning is for Everyone), an innovative postsecondary education program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.\n \nThis position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of healthcare, education, research, and advocacy. The fellow will collaborate with clinical providers, university faculty, researchers, students, individuals with disabilities, and their families to advance inclusive, person-centered approaches to neurodevelopmental health.\n \nThe Postdoctoral Fellow will help design and deliver professional training to healthcare providers and educators, conduct applied research, and develop practical strategies, tools and information applications that improve healthcare experiences and outcomes for neurodivergent individuals. A central focus of the role will be promoting patient self-advocacy and equipping healthcare providers with effective, respectful approaches for partnering with neurodiverse patients as they make decisions and manage their healthcare plans.\n \nAreas of Focus\n \nResearch, training, and program development will emphasize:\n\n Advancing strength-based, person-centered clinical approaches for working with neurodiverse patients.\n Adapting therapeutic and healthcare strategies, including restructuring environments to support patient comfort, engagement, independence, and success.\n Identifying effective methods for evaluating and improving systems of care for young people and adults with disabilities and their families.\n Developing innovative training and research initiatives that promote accessibility, inclusion, and equity in healthcare for neurodivergent populations.\n Collaborating on grant-funded research through literature reviews, study design, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing.\n Identifying and pursuing internal, local, regional, and national funding opportunities to support impactful research and sustainable programming.\n \nThe successful candidate will join a dynamic partnership committed to translating research into practice and creating healthcare systems in which neurodivergent individuals are understood, respected, and empowered. This position is particularly well-suited for an emerging scholar seeking interdisciplinary mentorship, meaningful community and clinical engagement, and opportunities to build a strong portfolio of research, training, publication, and grant-development experience.\n \nQualifications for the Fellowship include: \u2022 Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree in learning sciences, psychology, behavior analysis, or special education from a regionally accredited institute of higher education. \u2022We are interested in candidates with a strong empirical research background in neurodiverse populations with experience working in schools, residential services, or clinical settings with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or related disorders. \n \nClemson University is an EEO/AA employer.
