Title Postdoctoral Fellow in Santagata Lab (Harvard Program in Therapeutic Science) - Methods/Platform and Spatial Biology School Harvard Medical School Department/Area Harvard Program in Therapeutic Science Position Description

We invite applicants for a postdoctoral fellow position inthe Santagata lab at Harvard Medical School in Boston Massachusetts. The work of the lab focuses on developing and applying multiplexed imaging, spatial multi-omics, and computational pathology approaches to understand how microenvironmental signals shape cell states in human disease, particularly cancer.

We welcome applications from recent PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows who are interested in these or related fields, particularly those who may bring strong quantitative, computational, or physical science perspectives. Candidates with backgrounds in physics, applied mathematics, or computational sciences who are motivated to work at the interface of biology and medicine are especially encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Santagata to develop an independent research program aligned with the labs focus on spatial biology and clinically relevant diagnostics. Current projects include understanding how metabolic gradients and chromatin states encode spatial information in tumors. In parallel, the lab is integrating advanced multiplexed imaging with computational pathology and quantitative morphology to define image-based biomarkers of tumor biology and therapeutic resistance. These efforts combine spatial profiling, pathology-informed feature extraction, and systems-level analysis to link molecular states with tissue architecture, enabling the development of interpretable, clinically relevant diagnostic and predictive frameworks. In addition to carrying out research, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for fellowship funding, contribute to the grant and manuscript writing, participate in mentoring and teaching within the lab, and contribute to a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.
