Job Description

The George Calin laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multidisciplinary research program focused on uncovering novel RNA-based mechanisms that drive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and translating these discoveries into therapeutic strategies. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work at the interface of RNA biology, cancer genomics, and therapeutic development within a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to projects that may focus on the understanding and correct practice of techniques related to the roles of non-coding RNAs in cancer:

1. Clinical and Database Analyses
Evaluate the expression of miR-485-3p and VPS45 and their prognostic significance using
TCGA datasets and clinical samples.

2. Functional Analyses
• Conduct gain- and loss-of-function experiments of miR-485-3p and VPS45 in HCC cell
lines.
• Validate tumorigenic potential using mouse models.

3. Comprehensive RNA Network Analysis
• Utilize large-scale miRNA-seq and CLIP-seq datasets at the Calin lab to identify novel
RNA interaction networks in HCC.
• Functionally validate promising candidates and confirm their clinical relevance in human
tissues and circulating miRNAs.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
An individual holding a recent (within three years) Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in an appropriate field who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator. This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
