A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Daniel Kober in the department of Biochemistry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The focus of the position is to carry out a high-throughput screen to identify, develop, and validate inhibitors of the Site-One Protease (S1P) / SPRING complex. Building on our recent publications in PNAS and Nature Communications (PMID: 40299693 and 38977690), the postdoc will screen for small molecule inhibitors of the complex and interrogate hits using established enzymatic and cell-based counter-screens. Computational screening methods may also be utilized. In parallel, the postdoc will develop new cell-based tools to interrogate the role of S1P and lead hits in cancer models.
More information about our lab can be found here: https://labs.utsouthwestern.edu/kober-lab.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas, but strong candidates who do not possess all these preferred skills are still encouraged to apply.
Enzymology (e.g. kinetic assays, Michaelis-Menton analysis, inhibitor analysis).
Expressing and purifying recombinant proteins.
Mammalian cell culture work, including using CRISPR-Cas9 to generate and characterize knockout cell lines.
Experience with modeling and interpreting protein-ligand structural data.
Experience using pre-clinical models of cancer (cells and/or animals).
