Case Western Reserve University, Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a postdoctoral scholar position. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewing for an additional year.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging and advanced techniques. We are seeking a sharp, enthusiastic, well-trained individual who can contribute substantially to a highly collaborative research team focused on developing and applying OCT technology to the study of heart development. This position will be supervised by Prof. Andrew M. Rollins (Biomedical Engineering, Case Western Reserve University).

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop and validate a polarization-sensitive OCT system for research studies.
• Support studies by maintaining and operating the imaging instrumentation and processing and analyzing data.
• Innovate new measurement and analysis methods to reveal 3D variation of properties of the developing heart.
• Support and participate in studies using multiple measurement methods, including OCT fluorescence, molecular imaging, etc.
• Conceive and implement novel technologies and research applications in high priority directions.
• Train, mentor, and supervise junior researchers on the research team.
• Deliver milestones of funded projects and publish research results in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
• Fully participate in the large, multi-disciplinary, multi-institution research team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• An earned PhD (or equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant research experience. Specific expertise in OCT imaging technology and instrumentation is especially preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

In compliance with the City of Cleveland's Pay Transparency Ordinance (effective

October 27, 2025), the annual starting base salary range for this position is $55,000 -

$63,480. CWRU considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding

and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Postdocs receive

individual and family healthcare benefits, life insurance, and employee assistance.
