Overview:

The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences at Tufts University invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar to join a growing research group focused on glacier and landscape response to past climate change, supervised by Dr. Allie Balter-Kennedy (https://alliebalter-kennedy.github.io). Broad topics for potential projects include glacier reconstructions, integrating paleoglacier model outputs and observational data, and geochemical methods development. Applicants with expertise in cosmogenic-nuclide geochemistry, glacial geomorphology, and/or glacier modeling are particularly encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:

This is a one-year position with the option to renew based on performance and funding availability. The hiring range for this position is $65,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience.

The postdoctoral scholar will contribute to the development of an inclusive and collaborative research group, with opportunities to mentor undergraduate researchers. The successful applicant will have a track record of independent research and is expected to contribute to the development of new projects. Prior experience working in a laboratory setting and/or with scientific programming in MATLAB or Python is strongly preferred. Candidates must have a PhD by the start of employment.

The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences is an undergraduate-only department with a growing cohort of postdoctoral scholars, situated within the vibrant R1 research community at Tufts University. The postdoctoral scholar will have access to a new cosmogenic-nuclide laboratory and the Tufts HPC cluster (https://it.tufts.edu/high-performance-computing). Tufts is located in the Greater Boston metropolitan area, a cultural hub with easy access to resources and collaborators at other academic institutions.
