The Findlay Lab in the Department of Surgery and Massey Cancer Center located at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia is recruiting a motivated and skilled  researcher for a Postdoctoral position. The chosen candidate will lead experiments on a federally funded project to investigate ‘lifestyle associated reactive metabolites and their negative impact on breast cancer risk’. Predominantly using cell line and dietary mouse models, the postdoctoral researcher will investigate the effects of Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) on epithelial-fibroblast cross talk in the mammary gland microenvironment and its consequences to breast cancer risk.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD required
  • Requires an in-depth knowledge of relevant disciplines, processes or specialized fields
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in cancer biology, normal development or cell biology
  • Track record of productivity and independence
  • Experience with mouse models is preferred but not required
  • Driven to be an independent scientist


Thiswill be a minimum one-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory annualreviews. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines and applicant experience.
