Role Summary

As a Postpartum Clinical Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, evidence-based care to postpartum patients and their families. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, you will ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of both mother and baby while supporting breastfeeding, newborn care, and patient education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive mother and infant assessments, postpartum care, and support breastfeeding, skin-to-skin bonding, and newborn care.

  • Maintain expertise in perinatal and evidence-based practices, ensuring adherence to all hospital policies and procedures.

  • Actively participate in emergency maternal and neonatal care, responding effectively to critical situations.

  • Utilize SBAR communication for bedside handoff reports and emergency situations.

  • Formulate individualized nursing care plans, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and disease prevention.

  • Administer medications and therapeutic treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.

  • Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring mothers and families are well-informed and empowered in their healthcare decisions.

  • Supervise and delegate tasks to subordinates within their scope of practice, ensuring high-quality patient care.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of patient care, including assessments, care plans, interventions, and education.

  • Adhere to Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative standards, promoting optimal maternal and neonatal care practices.

  • Assist in patient discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care and proper education on postpartum recovery.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Current California RN license.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Perinatal or Critical Care settings.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA-certified).

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in a related nursing specialty.

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred).

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
