About The Volunteer Opportunity:
As a Potawatomi Gathering Volunteer, you will be part of a one-week cultural celebration that brings together tribal members, elders, artisans, and the wider community. Your support will help ensure the event runs smoothly, allowing guests to fully experience the music, dance, storytelling, and traditions being shared. Your presence will directly contribute to preserving cultural heritage and creating a welcoming, respectful environment for all. Current FCP employees are required to coordinate work and volunteer schedules to ensure department and Gathering coverage.
Dates that need support:
Day 1: Monday, July27th
Day 2: Tuesday, July 28th
Day 3: Wednesday, July 29th
Day 4: Thursday, July 30th
Day 5: Friday, July 31st
Day 6: Saturday, August 1st
Areas that need your support:
Help with setup, registration, and tear-down of event spaces, manage parking and visitor flow, and assist with transportation needs for attendees.
Welcome and guide guests, providing information about event activities and schedules.
Support cultural presenters, artists, and performers with logistics.
Help manage volunteer stations such as registration, parking, transportation, operations center, etc.
Ensure spaces remain clean, safe, and accessible throughout the event.
Serve as a friendly, respectful ambassador for the event and its mission.
What you’ll need to be successful:
A respectful and open-minded attitude toward diverse cultures and traditions.
Strong communication skills and welcoming demeanor.
Reliability and the ability to follow directions in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to assist with a variety of tasks—no job is too small.
Physical ability to stand, walk, or lift light items during the event (accommodations available)
