The Powder Coat Paint Specialist is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components using powder coating systems to ensure high-quality, durable finishes that meet company and customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of coating techniques, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to maintain production efficiency in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare metal parts for powder coating through cleaning, masking, blasting, and pretreatment processes.
Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, curing ovens, and associated production equipment.
Apply powder coatings according to color, thickness, and quality specifications.
Inspect coated parts for defects, coverage, adhesion, and overall finish quality.
Verify coating thickness using appropriate testing and measuring equipment.
Load and unload materials from paint lines and curing ovens.
Perform color changes and clean equipment between production runs.
Monitor oven temperatures, conveyor speeds, and process parameters to ensure product quality.
Troubleshoot coating defects and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain production records, quality documentation, and inventory usage logs.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance on painting equipment and report repairs as needed.
Follow all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping requirements.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
Ability to use a computer to record production as needed.
Follow company and safety policies and procedures.
Excellent attendance.

Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 2 years of powder coating, industrial painting, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
Knowledge of powder coating processes, materials, and equipment.
Ability to read work instructions, drawings, and product specifications.
Experience using measuring devices such as mil thickness gauges.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automated powder coating systems.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Experience in a metal fabrication, safe storage, or industrial manufacturing environment.
Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred.
3-5 years experience with powder coat line setup, troubleshooting and quality control
