Daikin Applied Americas is seeking a Power and Electronics Technician to support our Research & Development Laboratory. This role is responsible for electrical testing, troubleshooting, instrumentation, controls support, and laboratory infrastructure improvements across a wide range of HVAC product development programs. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!

Location: Plymouth, MN 

  • 1st Shift - 6am - 2:30pm (Monday - Friday)

What you will do:

  • Troubleshoot, install, and configure power analyzers and electrical test equipment
  • Develop and audit Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for test units and laboratory test facilities
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on test units, test systems, and facility equipment
  • Execute DAQ (Data Acquisition) system wiring, electrical panel modifications, and related electrical work
  • Install current transformers (CTs) and supporting instrumentation within test units
  • Rewire test units, control panels, and associated electrical systems as required
  • Create, modify, and maintain electrical schematics for laboratory equipment and test facilities
  • Identify and recommend improvements to laboratory infrastructure, test setups, and processes to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Assist in the design and development of in-house electrical test systems, controls architecture, and experimental test setups
  • Expand laboratory testing capabilities and provide support for UL compliance testing across multiple product lines
  • Support and execute Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) programming and configuration activities
  • Assist with PLC troubleshooting, diagnostics, and programming
  • Perform electrical repairs and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment and test systems
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and laboratory staff to support development, validation, and compliance testing activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Controls, or a related field 
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, industrial controls, and instrumentation
  • Experience reading and modifying electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, power analyzers, and electrical test equipment
  • Working knowledge of VFDs, PLCs, and industrial control systems
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, testing, or R&D environment
  • UL testing or product certification experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment and controls
  • AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software experience
  • Hands-on experience with control panel assembly and modification
  • Programming experience with common PLC platforms

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $31.73 to $52.29 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
