Job Title: Power BI & Azure Data Engineer
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power BI & Azure Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize cloud-based analytics solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building scalable data pipelines, developing Power BI dashboards, and integrating data from enterprise systems to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure services.
• Analyze source systems and implement efficient data integration solutions.
• Build and manage data ingestion workflows from enterprise applications using APIs and other integration methods.
• Develop and maintain data models, transformations, and semantic layers for Power BI reporting.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to support business decision-making.
• Optimize SQL queries, Synapse pipelines, and data storage for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, API integrations, and Power BI dataset or dataflow refreshes.
• Work with structured and semi-structured data formats including JSON, CSV, and Parquet.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather reporting requirements and deliver analytics solutions.
• Follow data governance, security, and best practices for cloud-based data platforms.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and testing dashboards using Power BI.
• 5+ years supporting Power BI datasets, dataflows, and DirectQuery/Import models.
• 5+ years of advanced SQL development, ETL/ELT processes, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• 5+ years of experience developing PL/SQL procedures.
• 3+ years of experience designing and optimizing scalable data pipelines using Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• 3+ years of programming experience with Python or Scala for data processing.
• 3+ years working with structured and semi-structured data formats such as JSON, CSV, and Parquet.
• 2+ years of experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure SQL, and Azure monitoring tools.
• 2+ years of experience with T-SQL, scripting, and data query optimization.
• 2+ years of experience with data modeling, including Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and enterprise data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with Delta Lake is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating enterprise applications through REST APIs or similar technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Experience working in Agile development environments is a plus.
