Power BI Dashboard Developer Employment Type: Contract (4 months +potential extension) Location: Austin, Texas (Telework)
We are seeking a Power BI Dashboard Developer to maintain, develop, and update the front-end processes powering our Power BI dashboard environment. This role combines hands-on development work with technical consultation, supporting infrastructure migrations, dashboard governance, and ongoing updates across a data pipeline built on SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Analysis Services.
The ideal candidate brings deep, long-term Power BI expertise paired with strong data engineering fundamentals and the judgment to translate stakeholder requirements into reliable, well-documented technical solutions.
Qualifications/Requirements
10 years of experience with Power BI
5+ years of Power BI Data Gateway and Connections, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), MySQL, SAS (Statistical Analysis System)
Experience producing technical documentation, working with the Ed-Fi Data Standard, and the Educator Preparation Data Model (EPDM)
Preferred: SmartSheets, Microsoft .NET, and the Texas Education Exchange
Responsibilities
Maintain, develop, and update front-end processes feeding Power BI dashboards.
Build and manage data pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
Create deployment instructions for moving updates into test and production environments.
Provide technical assistance and consultation for infrastructure migrations and updates.
Participate in requirements gathering, including serving on a dashboard governance committee to provide feasibility and time estimates for proposed updates.
Implement corresponding updates from the dashboard governance committee and departmentally required changes.
Apply troubleshooting skills to resolve data display and availability issues.
Consult with stakeholders to clarify program objectives and current operating procedures.
Formulate development plans using structured analysis and design or object-oriented development methodologies.
