Position Specific Description

Employees in this position are responsible for supporting SCADA availability and performance, industrial automation and control of wind sites, equipment health and performance, and operational data flow for NextEra renewable generation assets. The successful candidate applies engineering principles to develop and support automation solutions while working under general supervision. This role requires sound technical judgment, a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, system integrity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting multiple automation projects from design through implementation and ongoing operation.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, supply chain, operations, finance, and IT.
  • Assisting in the design, development, implementation, and documentation of automation solutions for wind farm operations, including control system hardware and software.
  • Providing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for automated systems.
  • Monitoring automation system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Assisting with implementing control system upgrades and modifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Ensuring automation solutions comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, cybersecurity standards, and corporate policies.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Completing assigned engineering tasks with moderate guidance while meeting project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Performing system testing, commissioning support, and documentation for control system changes and upgrades.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of control system solutions.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Would Have The Following:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of power generation equipment, power fundamentals, and control schemes.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and HMI development.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt (preferred).
  • Experience with renewable energy generation or utility-scale automation systems.

This candidate must be willing to travel to wind sites as needed to support troubleshooting, commissioning, and project execution.
