Power Generation Engineer

Job Summary
Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for designing innovative power systems in the marine and offshore sectors? Join our dynamic team remotely and play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge electrical solutions for complex naval, defense, and energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop marine electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication, control, instrumentation, and safety systems, in compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, USCG, and ABS.
  • Perform comprehensive power system analyses using SKM, Matlab/Simulink, or similar software for short circuit calculations, load flow, motor starting, harmonic analysis, relay coordination, arc flash assessments, and transient stability.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to define project scope, requirements, and objectives while supporting planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and diagrams essential for system implementation and maintenance.
  • Select appropriate electrical components and materials, considering reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness—covering transformers, switchboards, MCCs, drives, batteries, UPS systems, and power distribution hardware.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify hazards, ensure safety compliance, and implement mitigation strategies aligned with industry standards.
  • Develop testing protocols to validate system performance, analyze results, and iterate designs for optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues during installation, commissioning, and operation to minimize downtime and ensure system integrity.
  • Stay current with industry advancements, propose innovative solutions to improve system performance, and ensure all designs adhere to maritime and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical system design, preferably within marine, offshore, or oil and gas industries.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
  • Proficiency with design and simulation tools such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, ETAP.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime and industry-specific standards and regulations, including IEEE, USCG, and Marine Class Society guidelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain security clearances in compliance with U.S. Department of Defense requirements.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
