We re seeking a dynamic and dedicated Power Sports Technology Instructor to join our Team!

 

NATURE OF THE POSITION:

The Power Sports / Recreational Vehicle Repair Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in various areas of power sports and recreational vehicle service and repair. Responsibilities include a strong focus on industry alignment, hands-on learning, and preparing students for postsecondary training and careers in the power sports industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

Provide instruction in areas including but not limited to:
Small engine theory, operation, and repair (2-cycle and 4-cycle)
Electrical systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
Fuel systems, carburetion, and fuel injection
Drivetrain, clutching, and transmission systems
Suspension, steering, brakes, and chassis systems
Preventative maintenance and service procedures
Shop safety, tool use, and industry best practices
Align and maintain program standards to meet current industry and manufacturer expectations
Guide students in a hands-on lab environment, assisting with diagnostics, repair processes, and problem-solving techniques
Maintain a high level of safety awareness in both classroom and lab/shop settings
Instruct students in a classroom setting in assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring applicable core competencies are addressed
Develop course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials
Plan, teach, observe, and evaluate student performance; grade assignments and assess overall student progress
Assist students with career exploration, certifications, and articulation opportunities with post-secondary institutions, training programs, or employers
Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, parents, and community partners
Maintain a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with challenging or crisis situations
Participate in the development of instructional materials, exams, workshops, presentations, and special programs
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, tools, and educational best practices related to power sports and recreational vehicle repair
Facilitate study sessions, labs, and additional learning opportunities for students as needed
Prepare lesson plans and materials for a substitute when necessary
Maintain regular and consistent in-person attendance
Utilize technology effectively, including:
Google Applications
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office
Educational and diagnostic software relevant to the field
Maintain a valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate by upper school administration

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Current industry-recognized certifications in one or more of the following areas (or ability to obtain):
Motorcycle / Power Sports Service Technology (OEM, MMI, or equivalent)
Small Engine Repair (2-stroke and 4-stroke)
Electrical Systems Diagnosis
Engine Performance and Repair
Drivetrain, Suspension, and Chassis Systems
Eligible for Annual Career Authorization (ACA) in a CTE Program
Current and valid State of Michigan licensure OR
National certification with a minimum of 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience
Recommended:
Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with appropriate Vocational Endorsement related to Power Sports, Small Engine Repair, or Automotive Technology
Physically and mentally capable of rigorous work (capable of standing and sitting for extended periods; lifting, pushing, or pulling a minimum of 50 pounds)
Ability to work safely and effectively in a shop/lab environment
Pass and maintain School Employment background check
