The Powerhouse & Maintenance skilled employees are responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on buildings, building equipment and mechanical equipment used in the facility. The work involves servicing, repairing and installing plumbing, doors/locks, electrical, heating systems, building interiors and exteriors, etc. Responsibilities also include maintaining and repairing a combination of gas-electric powered jitneys, tractors, and self-propelled yard cranes. Such duties may include disassembly repair and complete rebuilds of all units of the equipment and hoisting mechanisms, as well as, the performance of other miscellaneous repairs and adjustments. Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum 4 years of combined experience and training in one (1) or a combination of the following trades: Mechanical Technician, Millwright or Electrician: or, a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate for Millwright or Electrician
Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:
Work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as required
Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
Arc, acetylene and hydrogen weld
Properly move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
Properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other types of portable and hand tools
Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
Locate, diagnose and repair trouble in electrical systems or equipment;
Work from layout plans, blueprints, drawings or other specifications to determine work procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:
Troubleshoot electric systems such as primary and secondary circuit troubleshooting, electronic control, electrical instrumentation, SCR
Perform preventative maintenance, general motor repair, tune-up, diagnostic engine drive line and hydraulic lubrication, repair adjustment or replacement of starters, governors and power units
Repair, adjust and install automatic transmissions, standard transmissions, torque converters, and differential assemblies
Perform steering, drive axle and brake adjustment repair / replacement
Repair, adjust and install lifts, winches, and hydraulic pumps and motors
Provide mechanical support to operations to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment
Perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications (i.e., Pipefitter)
Complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment
Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and Company
Strong computer skills
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
