Amazon is looking for a Communications Specialist to join our team, focusing on Security. In this position, you will work effectively in a matrixed global organization, quickly build effective working relationships, possess strong media relations and internal communications skills, and can exercise strategic instincts while acting with bias for action.

As part of the role, you will drive the internal communications program for the Amazon Security organization while also supporting external communications efforts. You will work with senior leaders and marketing teams to develop and execute messaging, communications strategies, and cross-channel programs. You should be a quick learner who can rapidly develop fluency in new and complex subject areas. You should enjoy looking at a challenge and finding a process to simplify it. You must be comfortable managing ambiguity and building consensus with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive the day-to-day internal communications program for the Amazon Security organization, including setting priorities, making strategic recommendations, and ensuring consistent execution.
  • Draft leadership communications such as emails, talking points, and messaging for senior leaders.
  • Plan and execute internal events including all staffs, speaking engagements, and video messages.
  • Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of external communications programs covering security.
  • Ensure factually accurate representation of the business in the press.
  • Regularly interact with senior leaders to influence strategy around sensitive launches and product offerings.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and influencers in technology trade and business press.
  • Work cross-functionally to plan and execute cross-channel communications campaigns - both internal and external - across the company.

A day in the life

You will be responsible to developing and executing internal communications for Amazon"s Chief Security Officer, working closely with his leadership team. You will regularly be advising these senior leading on what and how we communicate to a large and diverse workforce.

You will also drive proactive storytelling about how our commitment to security is helping keep our customers, employees, and the broader world more secure. Coming up with unique angles, and working with our executives to bring the story to life.
