177219 Practice Assistant – Administrative (Medical Receptionist)
Location: Lexington, MA | Onsite | 3-Month Contract Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Sigma Inc. is currently seeking a Practice Assistant – Administrative to support Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care in Lexington, MA. This onsite contract opportunity is ideal for a healthcare administrative professional with experience in medical front desk operations, Epic EMR, patient communication, scheduling, and customer service.
Job Summary:
The Practice Assistant will provide administrative and front desk support for a primary care practice. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience supporting patients and providers, and the ability to manage scheduling, phone inquiries, and daily administrative tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide front desk and administrative support for daily primary care operations.
Welcome and assist patients with professionalism and excellent customer service.
Answer incoming calls and assist patients with questions, scheduling, and appointment-related needs.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using Epic EMR.
Update and maintain accurate patient information and records.
Support patient check-in/check-out processes.
Communicate effectively with providers, clinical teams, and patients.
Perform administrative tasks including data entry, documentation, and record management.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines.
Support overall clinic workflow and team coordination.
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare administration, front desk, or patient access role.
Epic EMR experience is required.
Strong customer service and administrative skills.
Experience answering phones and handling patient inquiries.
Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to work onsite Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
Must be separated from Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) for at least 6 months to be eligible (including permanent, per diem, and contract positions).
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous call center experience.
Experience in primary care, outpatient clinics, or hospital environments.
Familiarity with patient scheduling and healthcare workflows.
