    Position Summary

    Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pre-Admission Testing team serving The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center.

    In this role, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery through comprehensive preoperative evaluations, risk assessments, and coordination of required testing. The APP works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, primary care providers, and specialists to help ensure patients are optimized for surgery and achieve the best possible outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including histories and physical examinations (H&Ps).
    • Coordinate all required testing and medical clearances prior to surgical procedures.
    • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory studies, EKGs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
    • Collaborate with physicians and specialists to manage and optimize patients before surgery.
    • Provide patient education regarding preoperative preparation and expectations.
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on enhancing patient outcomes, improving surgical readiness, and reducing avoidable delays and readmissions.
    • Support system-wide efforts to standardize and improve pre-admission testing processes across Hartford HealthCare.

    Schedule

    • Full-Time
    • 40 Hours per Week
    • Monday through Friday

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

    • Current Connecticut APRN or Physician Assistant license.

    • National board certification as:

    • Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

    • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

    • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)

    • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

    • Physician Assistant

    • Minimum of one year of clinical practice experience as an Advanced Practice Provider required.

    • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
