    Description

TOPS Specialty Surgical Hospital, located in the heart of Houston, is a physician-owned, award-winning facility known for delivering exceptional surgical care with a personal touch. As part of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), we specialize in outpatient and inpatient surgeries across a variety of specialties including orthopedics, spine, ENT, pain management, and more. Our mission is to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care in a welcoming environment that supports both our patients and our team.

We are currently seeking a Pre-Admissions Testing (PAT) Nurse to join our team full-time. This role is key to ensuring that patients are well-prepared for their surgical procedures—both physically and medically—before they arrive for surgery.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Conduct pre-operative assessments via phone or in person, reviewing medical histories and identifying any potential anesthesia or surgical risks
    • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and primary care providers to obtain necessary clearances and lab work
    • Educate patients on pre-surgery instructions, including fasting, medication management, and arrival logistics
    • Ensure all required documentation is complete prior to the scheduled procedure
    • Identify and escalate any health concerns that may affect surgical clearance
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough charting in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
    • Support patient safety, satisfaction, and readiness through proactive communication and education

    What We Offer

We care for our communities and our team members by providing a comprehensive benefits package, subject to employment status:

    • Medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage
    • Life and AD&D coverage
    • Short- and long-term disability options
    • Flexible financial benefits including FSAs and HSAs
    • 401(k) with access to retirement planning
    • Paid holidays and vacation

    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • High attention to detail and organization
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
    • Compassionate and professional patient interaction
    • Current RN license in the state of Texas (or compact license)
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • BLS certification required
    • Minimum of 1 year of pre-op, PACU, or pre-admissions experience preferred
    • Familiarity with EMR systems and surgical workflows

    About Company

    Strength in Numbers
United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and Tenet have combined forces to create the nation’s largest ambulatory surgery provider. Our combined network of exceptional surgical and imaging facilities includes approximately 20 imaging centers, and over 265 short-stay surgical facilities. Together, our partnerships include 50 health systems and more than 4,000 physicians.

    Nationwide Experience
Our partners deliver high quality ambulatory solutions in safe, efficient and caring USPI facilities in communities of every size across 29 states. Our physician partners are focused on providing quality patient care, in part because they are invested in their USPI facility. We provide the infrastructure and support they need to perform their best. This is one of the advantages of partnering with USPI.

    Quality Patient Services
We share a vision with our physician and health system partners. Our goal is to provide the quality of healthcare services we would insist upon for our own families. Since our founding in 1998, this goal has helped us grow exponentially. Today, our strategic joint venture with Tenet establishes USPI as one of the nation's leading providers of ambulatory solutions.

    Operating Excellence
Our size and experience in developing and operating ambulatory facilities and strategic vision allow our facilities to achieve both high patient satisfaction and solid financial results. Moreover, because we engage physicians in the governance and growth of the facility, we also achieve excellent clinical outcomes.
