Position: Pre-ETS Job Coach

The Pre-ETS Job Coach provides individualized and group-based job coaching to high school students ages 14–21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities to support their transition from school to competitive employment and postsecondary opportunities. This role includes teaching job readiness and soft skills, supporting job exploration, and providing on-site coaching during work-based learning experiences in both classroom and community settings. The Job Coach works closely with educators, families, employers, and Pre-ETS staff to reinforce workplace expectations, build student independence and self-advocacy, and support each student's progress toward meaningful employment outcomes.


What You'll Do / Day-to-Day
Typical responsibilities include:

  • Provide individualized job coaching to students ages 14–21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community and worksite settings
  • Support internships and work-based learning aligned with Pre-ETS goals
  • Teach job skills and workplace behaviors (communication, teamwork, professionalism, time management) through hands-on training
  • Support job readiness activities such as resumes, interviews, and job exploration
  • Gradually fade support to promote independence and natural workplace integration
  • Build relationships with employers and support inclusive work experiences
  • Track progress and complete required documentation and reporting
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and service providers to support student goals
  • Provide transportation support/travel training as needed
  • Maintain flexible scheduling based on participant and worksite needs

Who We're Looking For
We welcome candidates who are passionate about working with youth and making a difference. Ideal candidates are:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • No prior experience required; comprehensive training and mentorship provided.
  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting youth
  • Strong communicators who can connect with students, families, and team members
  • Organized and adaptable in a dynamic environment
  • Available Monday-Friday, with flexibility for occasional community-based activities; some Saturday shifts may be available
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred)

Currently recruiting in Hilo, Hawai'i.


Duration


This is a summer role (June–August), with flexible start options. Candidates can begin part-time (12–16 hours per week) with opportunities to grow their hours, or start in a full-time role as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and/or Job Coach. There may also be opportunities to continue beyond the summer, including a Pre-ETS Job Coach role during the school year or expanded/full-time DSP work
