Pre-fabrication Technician

BlueWave is hiring a Fabrication Technician for an aerospace client based in Washington State. As Fabrication Technician, you will operate and program cutting and forming equipment to produce structural components according to engineering drawings. You will inspect completed parts, maintain equipment, and support a safe and efficient fabrication workflow.

Responsibilities

• Operate waterjet, plasma, laser-cutting, press-brake, and related fabrication equipment.
• Program and optimize machine cutting paths.
• Produce structural components according to drawing specifications and established tolerances.
• Prepare parts for downstream welding, machining, and painting operations.
• Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and fabrication drawings.
• Perform dimensional inspections and quality checks using precision measurement tools.
• Complete basic equipment maintenance and troubleshoot fabrication issues.
• Support material handling and production workflow.
• Identify and communicate equipment and process improvement opportunities.
• Maintain clean work areas and uphold established safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience operating waterjets, plasma cutters, laser cutters, or similar fabrication equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings and interpret dimensional tolerances.
• Experience using precision measurement tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication troubleshooting skills.
• Strong computer aptitude with the ability to learn machine-programming processes.
• Ability to work independently and meet demanding production schedules.
• Willingness to transition from first shift to second shift based on production needs.

Preferred qualifications include:

• 5+ years of fabrication equipment experience.
• Experience with waterjet cutting systems.
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Experience programming fabrication equipment and completing post-processing tasks.
• Experience threading holes and interpreting thread sizes.
• Background in fabrication or welding with an interest in machine programming and operation.

Employment Type: 13-week contract-to-hire, onsite in Washington State
