Pre K-12 Music Teacher

This candidate should possess the ability to work with a broad range of students and should be prepared to teach elementary general music as well as middle and high school bands. Familiarity with percussion and choral pedagogy are also helpful. This individual should possess the following qualities and skills: flexibility, initiative, time management, classroom management, and dependability. Additionally, in order to carry out music-related administrative duties, the candidate should be an effective communicator and be ready to work closely with staff.

In the classroom, the ideal candidate will encourage student ownership of musical traditions and standards of quality. Lastly, the candidate would be responsible for continuing a growing tradition of excellence in the Mercer School music program, and encourage family and community engagement.
