Seeking licensed mental health consultant experienced with preschool aged children. 

Current License or Certification as a Mental Health Provider in the State Of Oregonis required. 

This is a contracted position at the rate of $56.67 per hour. Mileage remibursement @ $0.62/mile. 

Must meet legal critieria for Independent Contractor status. 

 

Essential Responsibilitie include classroom observations, short term thereputic services, staffing consultations, training/faciliation. 

Services to Children and Families:

  • Assist the program in developing program practices that are responsive to the identified behavioral/mental health concerns of children in lieu of suspension and/or expulsion.

  • Provide on-site classroom observations of children, child-staff interactions and classroom functioning.

  • Facilitate staffing with center personnel after observations.

  • Provide theraputic interventions on an interim basis, as deemed necessary, while facilitating referral to ongoing services.

  • Make appropriate referrals when counseling is recommended.

  • Consult with program parents and staff to help better understand mental health and acces mental health interventions.

  • Assist teachers to improve classroom management and teaching practices relevant to mental health/social emotional development.

  • Assist identified families in developing support networks; particularly informal, natural support systems that will last after the family leaves Head Start.

  • Provide input to the program’s Intra-Agency Concern Team regarding children in assigned caseloads with mental health, social-emotional, and behavioral concerns.

  • Ensure mental health and social-emotional concerns are documented and follow-up occurs.

  • Assist the Education/Disabilities Coordinator or his/her delegate in developing Behavior Action Plans for assigned children.

 

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all services rendered, within the format assigned by Kidco, including electronic reconrds; submit such records within an assigned timeframe. 

  • Submit invoice for services in a timely manner.

 

Necessary Physical/Mental Abilities:

 

  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making ability in crisis situations.

  • Ability to work as a team, collaborating with parents and community resources.

  • Frequent driving to program sites and appointments off site.

  • Ability to make frequent significant decisions in supporting parents/families.

  • Work effectively with families of diverse cultures, races, values and lifestyles.

  • Completion of Health Appraisal
