Job Description

Pre-Production Administrator

JOB ID#75943

Position Purpose

The Pre-Production Administrator is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, and efficient pre-production setup for all roof and floor truss jobs. This role serves as the critical link between design, production, cutting, plate line operations, and delivery. Accuracy in batching, marking, and documentation directly impacts stacking, workflow efficiency, on-time deliveries, and successful field installation. The Pre-Production Administrator is expected to take full ownership of job setup, proactively identify risks, and maintain high standards of accuracy throughout pre-production.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Job Setup, Marking & Batching (iModel / iCommand)
  • Use Alpine Truss iModel and iCommand to perform all truss marking and batching functions.
  • Mark each truss clearly and consistently with job number, truss ID, quantity, orientation, and any special handling or installation notes.
  • Create accurate batch groupings based on installation sequence, delivery order, and plate line stacking requirements.
  • Ensure batching supports proper stacking of plate line trusses so bundles are built and delivered in the exact order required for efficient unloading and installation.
  • Coordinate batching and marking with crane-assisted delivery plans to minimize re-handling, re-stacking, or job-site confusion.
  • Confirm bundle sizes, truss groupings, and weights are practical for production, loading, and field installation.
  • Verify that each job has been dropped correctly into eShop, confirming job number, truss counts, and design data are complete before pre-production work begins.
  1. Cutting & Mitek Board Stretcher Support
  • Prepare and run Mitek board stretcher software once jobs are fully marked and batched.
  • Ensure all cutting paperwork, board stretcher reports, and supporting documents are complete, accurate, and aligned with approved batching.
  • Verify material quantities, lengths, and cutting sequences to support a smooth cutting workflow.
  • Coordinate with cutting personnel to resolve discrepancies before material is released, preventing downstream production delays.
  1. Production & Plate Line Support
  • Verify job readiness prior to release to production, ensuring all markings, batches, bundles, cutting documents, and paperwork are complete.
  • Support plate line efficiency by ensuring sequencing prevents downtime, re-stacking, or out-of-order builds.
  • Communicate clearly with production supervisors and plate line operators regarding stacking expectations, sequencing, or special job requirements.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Process Ownership
  • Identify recurring issues related to marking, batching, cutting paperwork, stacking, or delivery sequencing and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain organized, standardized pre-production documentation across all departments.
  • Work collaboratively with design, cutting, production, and delivery teams to improve job flow and reduce rework.

Authority & Decision-Making

  • Approve pre-production release only when truss markings, batching, Mitek board stretcher outputs, and all documentation meet Alpine Truss standards.
  • Stop production or cutting release if documentation, batching, or sequencing is incomplete or inaccurate, immediately escalating concerns to the Plant Manager.
  • Recommend process changes to improve stacking accuracy, cutting efficiency, and overall workflow.

Core Competencies & Behavioral Expectations

  • Ownership: Takes full responsibility for job setup, batching, marking, and cutting documentation accuracy.
  • Attention to Detail: Identifies errors before they impact cutting, plate line production, or delivery.
  • Production Awareness: Understands how batching and marking affect cutting flow, stacking, loading, and installation.
  • Computer Literacy: Competence in using office and productivity software, such as the basics like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, plus the utilization of industry specific software.
  • Team Collaboration: Works cross-functionally to support plant and job-site success.
  • Proactive Communication: Escalates issues and workflow risks early.
