Position Overview
The Pre-School Head Teacher plans and implements curriculum and works with families in an Early Childhood Education classroom at Exploration Station, the MDC preschool.

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field with 18 or more college credits in ECE and three (3) years of related experience; or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with 18 credits in ECE and seven (7) years of related experience
DCF 45 hours training must begin within the first 60 days of employment. All DCF 45 hours must be completed one year from the date the training began including passing competency exams
Employee in this position is required to maintain the following in current and active status: Forty-five (45) hours of Professional Development each fiscal year (July/June), valid First Aid in Early Care and Adult-Child-Infant CPR certificate, a valid Florida DCF Staff Credential and valid DCF Clearance Letter
All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Knowledge of Early Childhood curricula
Knowledge of Child Observation Record system and its implementation
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate and effective practices and strategies, culturally-appropriate practices, and trauma-informed care in Early Childhood Education programs
Knowledge of theories and philosophies in Early Childhood Education
Knowledge of health and safety procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Strong competency skills in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Ability to make decisions in accordance with policies and procedures
Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, assessment, and teaching methodologies
Ability to provide developmentally appropriate and effective experiences for children that encourage individual development
Ability to maintain a positive classroom environment and provide positive behavioral guidance
Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff
