Position Details
Example of Duties/Skills:
- Create daily plans and activities using High Scope Curriculum
- Supervise children and participate with children in activities
- Maintain program site, equipment, and documentation
- Communicate with parents and other caregivers on an ongoing basis
Required Qualifications:
- Must clear all state and federal background checks and fingerprinting standards for working with children
- Must maintain current certification in infant and adult CPR/First Aid and pass a TB test
- Must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a child-related field
- Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education or child development
- Montessori credential with 480 hours of experience
- Valid child development associate credential (CDA) with 480 hours of experience
- High school diploma/GED with 12 semester hours and/or 18 CEUs to equal 180 clock hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Child-Related Field with 1920 hours of experience.
- High school diploma/GED with 6 semester hours and/or 9 CEUs to equal 90 clock hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Child-Related Field with 3840 hours of experience.
Physical Aspects of Position:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at physical level with preschooler
- Climb steps and playground equipment as needed.
- Walk long distances in community-based instruction.
- Lift and position physically involved children.
- Change diapers or assist any children in toileting and other self care skills.
- Assist with maintenance/custodial care of the classroom, as needed.
- Use universal precautions at all times for personal health and safety.
