The Green Bay Area Public School District is seeking applicants for a Spanish Bilingual Paraprofessional to work at Preble High School. The hours may vary as you may be assigned to ride the school bus to support students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to):

  1. Provide instructional support by translating written materials and/or oral lectures to limited or non-English speaking students individually or in small groups in the specified language to accomplish learning objectives.

  2. Interprets and translates for students, parents, counselors, teachers, and others as assigned.

  3. Assist with ELL folders/record keeping of placement of files, achievement data, etc.

  4. Clerical duties, such as keeping attendance records.

  5. Collects fees and performing general housekeeping duties.

  6. Administers, scores and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.

  7. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

  8. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs,

interests, and abilities.

  1. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

  2. Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.

  3. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.

  4. Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.

  5. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.

  6. Assists students in the library or media center.

  7. Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.

  8. Helps students with their clothing, wash-up, and toilet routines, as necessary.

  9. Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines, as necessary.

  10. Practices ethical and professional standards of conduct, including confidentiality.

  11. Maintains confidentiality in verbal, written, and electronic communication.

  12. Refers confidential information to the appropriate person.
