Picture your shift starting with a clean workstation, a scheduled queue of parts, and clearly defined tolerances. You review the day’s travelers, load the first workpiece, choose the right geometry for your cutting tools, and dial in speeds and feeds. Throughout the run, you monitor chip load and tool wear, making smart adjustments so every part meets print the first time. When a question arises, you collaborate with engineers or teammates to troubleshoot and keep production moving.
What you’ll do
Set up and run manual and CNC lathes to perform turning, facing, drilling, threading, grooving, and related operations across metals and alloys.
Read and interpret drawings/blueprints and work instructions to confirm required dimensions, tolerances, and machining strategy.
Fixture and clamp workpieces securely, ensuring alignment and rigidity for accurate, repeatable results.
Select, install, and qualify cutting tools; establish offsets, speeds, feeds, and depths of cut appropriate to both the material and operation.
Oversee the machining process in real time—watching surface finish, size control, and tool life—and fine-tune parameters to sustain accuracy and throughput.
Perform routine care on equipment: cleaning, lubrication, tool changes, and basic preventive maintenance to keep machines in peak condition.
Coordinate with fellow machinists, supervisors, and engineers to diagnose issues and improve processes.
What you’ll bring
High school diploma or equivalent.
Hands-on experience as a lathe operator or in a comparable manufacturing role (preferred).
Fluency in reading blueprints/engineering drawings and understanding GD&T-style tolerances and callouts.
Skill with precision metrology tools—micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges—to verify dimensions and hold tolerance.
Working knowledge of cutting tool types and geometries, and how to match tooling to the operation and material.
Comfort with turning processes (facing, drilling, threading, grooving, etc.) to consistently produce accurate, high‑quality components.
Ability to conduct routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and tooling swaps.
Compensation and schedule
The salary range for this position is $22.00 to $30.00 per hour – We have day shifts and night shift available (5:30PM-2:00AM).
