Precision CNC Machining Specialist (Mills & Lathes)

Location: Addison, IL | Employment Type: Direct hire

Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (overtime available) | Compensation: $25–$36/hour + 10% shift differential

A day in this role

You clock in a few minutes early, review the traveler, and pull up the latest program. Tooling is staged, offsets are verified, and you run the first-piece inspection with precision. Through the shift, you set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, make smart adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tool wear, and collaborate with engineers to dial in process improvements. Every component you produce meets tight tolerances and ships with confidence.

What you'll be responsible for

• Setting up and operating CNC vertical/horizontal mills and CNC lathes to machine complex, precision parts to spec.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and CAD-derived prints; applying GD&T to verify features.
• Performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to keep equipment running at peak performance.
• Monitoring in-process quality; adjusting tool offsets and parameters to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Inspecting parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision instruments to confirm conformance.
• Partnering with teammates and engineers to improve setups, cycle times, and overall quality.
• Maintaining a safe, organized work area and following all shop policies and procedures.

What you bring

• 3–4 years of CNC machining experience in a production or job shop environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; machining trade certificate or technical coursework preferred.
• Hands-on proficiency in CNC operation with solid understanding of G-Code and program edits/offsets.
• Comfortable reading blueprints and applying GD&T.
• Experience with machine setup, tool changes, and process changeovers.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work both independently and in a team.
