Build precision. Shape performance.

As a Precision CNC Mill & Lathe Setup Technician, you will produce tight‑tolerance parts by planning, setting up, programming, and operating CNC equipment while upholding rigorous quality, safety, and documentation standards. You’ll also care for the machines and supplies that keep our shop running smoothly.

A day in the role

You start your shift by reviewing work orders, blueprints, and engineering drawings to plan machining operations. You program mills and lathes at the control—establishing zeros and references, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches—calculating requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, and proving out part programs. You install and adjust three‑ and four‑jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicate vises and tram heads; and load stock into the feed mechanism.

During production, you run turning, facing, drilling, grooving, and other cutting operations. You take precise measurements, watch for abnormalities, troubleshoot processes, adjust or reprogram controls, and sharpen or replace tooling. Throughout, you document production and quality results in logs, and you complete preventive maintenance per manufacturer instructions—troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs as needed—while keeping equipment and supplies organized.
