Second shift, hands-on precision. Your workday starts at 3:00 PM and finishes at 11:00 PM, Monday–Friday. You’ll own the setup-to-first-piece process on modern CNC equipment, ensuring every cut meets print and every changeover runs smoothly. Explore Eaton Benefits. Relocation is offered for this role.

What a typical shift looks like

You begin by verifying tools, loading fixtures, and pulling the correct CNC program. With a quick review of the print and GD&T, you establish work offsets—G54, G55, and others—either manually or with probing. If the operation calls for it, you calculate and enter precise X, Y, and Z coordinates (up to 3 axes), or deploy a spindle probe to determine offsets. When parts change, you handle the changeover, retrieve or input programs, and reset codes as needed. Throughout, you monitor performance, make program adjustments within scope, and keep the next job ready to run.

Key responsibilities

  • Set tools in designated locations, complete part changeovers, and retrieve/input CNC programs.
  • Establish and verify work offsets (e.g., G54, G55) manually and via probing technology.
  • Read, interpret, and reset CNC program codes to support efficient production.
  • Calculate and enter axis coordinates (X, Y, Z) for up to 3‑axis machining, or use a spindle probe to determine offsets.

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years of CNC lathe and/or mill operating experience in manufacturing/operations; OR an Associate’s degree or higher in machining or a manufacturing-related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience setting up CNC lathes and/or mills.
  • Due to access to export‑controlled information, candidates must be a U.S. person: a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or an asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
  • Relocation is offered. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Charleston, SC, or be willing to move into this region; must currently live within the United States.

Preferred

  • Technical degree in manufacturing, machining, or a related discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience with manual machines (lathes, mills, jig bore, grinders, etc.).

Position criteria

  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints and sketches with proficiency in GD&T.
  • Solid shop math skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
