Shape high-precision parts from setup to final inspection
At QCMI, your day starts with a blueprint review alongside engineering. You plan the job, choose tooling, and set up a 3- or 4-axis VMC or a 2-4 axis lathe. You dial in speeds/feeds for stainless, aluminum, castings, forgings, and exotic alloys, make on-the-fly program edits at the control, and run first-article checks to GD&T—partnering with Quality to meet aerospace-grade standards and delivery dates.
What you'll do
- Independently set up, operate, and optimize CNC mills and lathes.
- Comfortably work with Fanuc, Okuma, Haas, and similar controls.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints; apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Adjust offsets and make competent program changes at the machine.
- Select tooling and cutting parameters for a wide range of metals, including superalloys.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing to meet deadlines and quality targets.
What you bring
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a CNC Machinist in a machine shop.
- Proven ability to set up and run jobs unsupervised.
- Knowledge of materials including castings and forgings.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and applying geometric tolerances.
- Competence making program changes at machining centers.
- Excellent communication skills; a dependable, team-first mindset; strong work ethic; willingness to work overtime when requested.
- Own set of tools.
Bonus points
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies.
- General understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems.
