From first part to final pass, you own the setup, operation, and continuous improvement of our turning-centric CNC work. You’ll bring advanced problem-solving to non-routine challenges, keep quality airtight, and help teammates grow while you elevate throughput and precision.
What a day looks like
Perform full machine startups and shutdowns; load materials and stage jobs for efficient runs.
Complete advanced setups, including tooling and fixture changes, offsets, and parameter dialing.
Operate CNC equipment safely and efficiently while monitoring part quality and machine health.
Inspect components visually and dimensionally; verify to spec using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, comparators, and gages.
Adjust speeds, feeds, and machining parameters to stabilize processes and hit cycle-time targets.
Troubleshoot setup/tooling issues, resolve non-conformances, and diagnose program alarms.
Escalate discrepancies and machine malfunctions appropriately; assist with minor mechanical repairs.
Preset tooling, perform preventative maintenance, and keep machines production-ready.
Document production data and complete all required records with accuracy and timeliness.
Recommend process and scheduling improvements; implement ideas that lower cost and improve delivery.
Mentor less experienced machinists; contribute to a learning-focused team culture.
Modify part programs when needed to correct issues or enhance performance.
About you
High school diploma or equivalent.
Advanced knowledge of machining processes, equipment, and tooling—especially turning.
Proven troubleshooting skills; calm under pressure in a fast-paced production setting.
Clear communicator and self-starter who takes ownership of quality and uptime.
Hands-on experience with CNC operations, part loading/unloading, and in-process inspection.
Fluent with precision measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, comparators, and gages.
Able to identify/correct tooling and machining issues (tool holders, collets, chucks, etc.).
Capable of diagnosing and resolving minor mechanical equipment malfunctions.
Comfortable with conventional screw machines such as Acme-Gridley, New Britain, and Warner & Swasey ("Trucker").
CNC focus is ~90% lathes; milling experience is welcomed and valued.
