This position involves the setup and operation of both horizontal and vertical CNC lathes to machine complex, high-value parts for critical aerospace and industrial applications.You'll work with a variety of challenging materials — including Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel — producing precision components to tight tolerances in a clean, modern, and high-performance environment.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:Set up and operate horizontal and vertical CNC lathes , including machines with multi-axis and live tooling capabilitiesSelect appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and workholding solutions based on part geometry and materialMachine precision parts to tight tolerances (typically ±.0005”) and meet strict surface finish requirementsRead and interpret detailed blueprints, process documentation, and GD&T specificationsPerform in-process inspections using micrometers, bore gages, calipers, height gages, and other precision measuring toolsMaintain and adjust machine offsets, tooling wear, and workholding to ensure consistent qualityFollow routers, setup sheets, and document any deviations or improvementsWork collaboratively with Engineering, Programming, and Quality to resolve dimensional or machining issuesSupport cross-training efforts and contribute to a positive, team-oriented cultureMaintain clean and organized work area aligned with 6S principles and all company safety policiesParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, tooling, and process efficiencyREQUIREMENTS:3–5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes (horizontal and/or vertical) in a precision machining environmentFamiliarity with Fanuc and/or Siemens controlsStrong knowledge of tooling, insert geometry, speeds/feeds, and best practices for machining tough materialsProficient in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretationSkilled in the use of precision inspection tools and able to perform accurate in-process inspectionsExcellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality partsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periodsMust be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (required for ITAR compliance)Pre-employment drug screening requiredCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Competitive Wages + Performance BonusesPaid Time Off (PTO)Family Health Insurance (Medical and Dental)Prescription Drug Plan401(k) Plan with Company MatchCompany-paid Life InsuranceShort and Long-Term DisabilityVoluntary Short-Term Disability and Voluntary Life InsuranceFitness Facility (available to employees and family)Access to Vacation Cabin in Montana (available to employees in good standing)Company Description Metalex is a family owned company located in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area.
