Are you energized by exacting standards and hands‑on problem solving? In this role, you’ll protect the quality of tapered bearing cups, cones, and sealing components that power global freight rail. Your impact
Imagine you’re the first checkpoint after a setup change. You review the print, run the first piece, validate every critical dimension using gauges, and decide if the line can run. If something’s off, you isolate the product, communicate quickly, and help the team correct the issue. You document results in our quality system and jump in where needed—whether lifting a component onto a fixture, operating a machine briefly to confirm a fix, or packing finished goods.
Core responsibilities
- Uphold plant‑wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental requirements per the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program
- Perform dimensional inspections against specifications and quality plans using appropriate gauging
- Support first‑piece approval and monitor product condition/defects
- Assist Setup with tooling/attachment changeovers across lines/cells
- Record inspection/test results and production run details in company systems
- Identify, segregate, and report any nonconforming material
- Handle components manually or with hoists/cranes to position for inspection or operation
- Contribute to operations as assigned: equipment operation, packing, and material handling

What you’ll need
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
- Capability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs.
- Ability to wear department‑required, employer‑provided PPE
- Comfort standing and moving throughout the department for the full shift
- Mechanical aptitude; previous industrial experience is advantageous
