Precision Finishing and Inspection Technician

A day in the life

You start your shift by reviewing drawings/prints and confirming ISO Quality Management System steps. With job travelers in hand, you pick up a lot, verify traceability, and choose the right tools and media to meet spec. Through the day, you’ll wash and clean, then deburr, scrape, grind, sand, file, and buff parts made from aluminum, stainless steel, copper, titanium, and plastics. You’ll round edges, knock down burrs, and polish surfaces to precise finishes, inspecting visually and under magnification to ensure accuracy. You’ll sync with area supervision and shop-floor planning so the right work hits the line at the right time—keeping secondary operations and customers on schedule.

What you’ll do

• Apply ISO-related Quality Management System processes while finishing and inspecting precision mechanical components.
• Clean components using specified equipment and methods per the print or process callout.
• Deburr and finish via scraping, grinding, filing, sanding, wire brushing, buffing wheels, and cloths as required.
• Hold parts safely against wheels and media to achieve the defined finish.
• Use visual checks and magnification/microscopes to confirm part conformity and surface integrity.
• Maintain lot traceability at every step to ensure complete record accuracy.
• Coordinate priorities with supervisors and planners to drive on-time delivery.
• Follow company health and safety policies; sustain a clean, organized, 5S-ready work area.
• Pitch in where needed: packaging, 5S projects, and additional inspection tasks.
