A day in this role

You’ll begin your shift centered on safety—following plant-wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices defined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program. Moving between grinding lines and cells, you’ll verify part dimensions and features against prints/specifications using gauges and other metrology tools, document your results, and collaborate with operators and setup personnel to keep quality on track.

  • Measure critical dimensions of processed parts per the departmental quality plan using gauges and related inspection devices
  • Assist with first‑piece inspections and support setup personnel during changeovers across work lines/cells
  • Record inspection and test data in accordance with quality procedures; enter production run information in the company computer system
  • Segregate nonconforming material and promptly notify appropriate personnel and supervisors regarding product issues
  • Lift and position machine components manually or using hoists/cranes
  • Contribute as needed to operating equipment, packing products, and material handling

To perform successfully, you must be able to carry out each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

What you bring

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening
  • Able to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs; comfortable standing and moving throughout the department for the full shift
  • Willing to wear employer‑provided PPE as required by the department
