    A day in this role

Step into a clean, climate-controlled shop where legacy craft meets modern expectations. Your day begins by reviewing blueprints and GD&T, selecting tooling, and planning setups for precision work on new builds and intricate repairs that support power generation, aerospace, military, and industrial customers. You’ll run manual lathes and mills, dial in close tolerances, verify with precision instruments, document results, and hand off spotless, deburred parts for the next operation—all while collaborating with seasoned machinists who take pride in quality.

    What you’ll handle

    • Read/interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and GD&T.
    • Set up and run conventional machines to produce and repair precision components while holding tight tolerances.
    • Perform drilling, tapping, boring, lapping, cylinder bore honing, internal/external thread chasing, facing, and precision fitting.
    • Tram milling heads/quills to tables or angles; tram vises and angle plates for perfect alignment.
    • Center and indicate both round and out-of-round workpieces.
    • Choose proper tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds based on materials and operations.
    • Inspect parts using precision metrology to confirm compliance with customer requirements.
    • Deburr and clean work, then stage for subsequent operations.
    • Partner with supervisors, quality, and peers to maximize throughput without compromising standards.
    • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area; follow all safety procedures.
    • Accurately complete required production and quality records.

    Machines you’ll run

    • Engine Lathes
    • Turret Lathes
    • Vertical, Knee, and Horizontal Milling Machines
    • Bridgeport Mills
    • Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs)
    • Vertical Boring Mills (VBMs)

    What you bring

    • Minimum five (5) years of manual machining experience on mills and lathes.
    • Hands-on experience with Engine Lathes, Turret Lathes, Bridgeport Mills, Vertical, Knee, and Horizontal Milling Machines, VTLs, and VBMs.
    • Proficiency setting up and using three-jaw centering chucks with reversible jaws; four-jaw independent chucks with reversible jaws; tailstocks; steady rests; and compound rest angle setups.
    • Working knowledge of standard OD/ID micrometers, dial test indicators, bore gauges, right-angle heads, indexing heads, rotary tables, boring heads, facing heads, and tapping heads.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T.
    • Skilled with precision measurement and inspection equipment; strong shop math, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving.
    • 18+ years of age; high school diploma or GED.
    • Successfully pass a pre-employment physical, lift assessment, and drug screening.

    Preferred

    • Journeyman Machinist certification.
    • CNC machining exposure.
    • Experience machining large, close-tolerance components.
    • Industrial equipment repair/refurbishment background.
