Precision Medicine Informatician

Job Summary

The Informatician serves as a key bio-informatics partner in supporting the Center of Precision Medicine through analysis, interpretation, validation, and integration of genomic and multi-omics data generated through clinical and precision medicine initiatives. Collaborates closely with our oncology and genetics team. Ensures that oncology, molecular, genomic, treatment, and outcomes data are accurately captured, appropriately validated and translated into efficient, clinically meaningful workflows. Focuses on integration and interpretation of complex genomic and multi-omics data as well as development of bioinformatic workflows to support precision medicine. The informatician will establish data standards and best practices while collaborating closely with clinical partners, information technology, and precision medicine.

Job Specific Duties

• Serves as the bio-informatics subject matter resource for pediatric oncology precision medicine initiatives.
• Partners with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, laboratory teams, analysts, operational leaders, and other stakeholders to define, design, and optimize precision medicine workflows.
• Designs and optimizes structured capture of oncology, molecular, genomic, diagnosis, staging, treatment, and outcomes data to improve usability for patient care, quality, operations, analytics, and research.
• Participates in design review, integrated testing, workflow validation, defect triage, issue resolution, and go-live/post-go-live optimization for precision medicine workflows.
• Collaborates with technical teams to ensure data workflows, content, and decision-support tools are configured in alignment with clinical intent, safety requirements, pediatric considerations, and organizational standards.
• Supports development and optimization of Epic based clinical decision support tools, results review workflows, documentation tools, and reporting structures for oncology precision medicine use cases.
• Promotes data quality, data governance, interoperability, and standardization for oncology and precision medicine data across Epic and downstream systems.
• Partners with analytics, registry, quality, and research stakeholders to enable reliable precision medicine datasets, operational reporting, cohort identification, outcomes analysis, and precision medicine initiatives.
• Collaborate in design and implementation of analysis pipelines in several areas of precision medicine including analysis of patient-derived genomic data.
• Support best practices for data governance, provenance, documentation, and reproducibility in handling human genomic data. Work with institutional resources to implement secure computational environments and appropriate data access practices.
• Lead WGTS analysis strategies for discovery science, developing and overseeing scalable bioinformatics pipelines to generate actionable genomic and transcriptomic insights for research and translational programs.
• Drive cross-functional scientific collaboration by partnering with internal researchers, academic investigators, and other stakeholders to design studies, interpret WGTS data, and advance high-impact discovery initiatives.
• Build and strengthen partnerships by serving as a technical and scientific lead for joint projects, data-sharing efforts, and collaborative research programs that expand innovation and biomarker discovery.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics, Genomics, Health Informatics, Computational Biology, or related field
• 4-7 years of experience in bioinformatics/biomedical informatics, data engineering, or healthcare analytics; experience integrating biobank, genomic/-omics, and Epic EHR data.
• 3-5 years of experience working in regulated healthcare environments with security, privacy, data governance, quality, and compliance considerations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with pediatric oncology, oncology operations, precision medicine, molecular diagnostics, genomics, or biomarker-driven workflows preferred.
• Experience supporting quality improvement, registries, cohort identification, outcomes reporting, or clinical/research data use cases preferred.
• Knowledge of oncology treatment plans, chemotherapy/infusion workflows, supportive care ordering, and protocol-driven care delivery.
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards and terminology including SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD-10, and oncology/genomics-related data concepts.
• Experience with structured data capture, source-to-target mapping, data quality review, data stewardship, and reporting readiness.
• Ability to partner effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nurses, analysts, researchers, operational leaders, and technical teams.
• Strong analytical, facilitation, testing, issue-resolution, communication, and change-management skills in complex clinical/research environments.
• Understanding of HIPAA, patient safety, governance, and change control principles in clinical systems.
