Precision Metal Components Quality Inspector

Pay: $17.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience

A day in the role

Your shift kicks off at 6:00 AM. You power up the inspection station, adjust the lights and scopes, and review the work instructions for the first lot. As trays of small precision metal parts arrive, you carefully handle each piece, scanning for scratches, dents, contamination, or any nonconformances. With gauges and other measurement tools at your side, you separate acceptable parts from rejects, record counts, and package good components with accurate labels. Throughout the day, you support sorting and containment activities, communicate shortages or material concerns, and prepare completed parts for the next operation or for shipment. When production needs arise, you lend a hand on punch press, shear, or related operations once trained—all while keeping your area organized and safe.

What you will do

• Perform visual inspections on precision metal parts to detect defects and quality issues
• Use scopes, lights, gauges, and other aids to verify conformance
• Sort and separate conforming and nonconforming components
• Handle parts with care to avoid damage or contamination
• Count, package, and label finished parts per documented instructions
• Follow customer specifications, quality standards, and procedures
• Support sorting, containment, and reinspection efforts as needed
• Maintain accurate inspection, packaging, and production records
• Flag and communicate defects, shortages, or material problems promptly
• Stage and prepare parts for subsequent operations, packaging, or shipment
• Keep a clean, orderly, and safe work area
• Assist with punch press, shear, or similar production tasks after training
• Adhere to all safety policies and required PPE

Preferred background

• Experience in manufacturing, quality inspection, production, assembly, sorting, or packaging
• Hands-on work with precision metal parts
• Use of gauges, calipers, micrometers, scopes, lights, or other inspection tools
• Exposure to metal stamping, pressroom, or similar manufacturing
• Familiarity with identifying nonconforming or defective products

Physical demands

• Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift
• Strong visual acuity for small and detailed parts
• Safe handling of small, sharp, delicate, or precision metal components
• Capacity for repetitive inspection, sorting, counting, and packaging work
• Comfort operating around manufacturing equipment and materials
