Precision Microelectronics Assembly Technician I

What a day looks like

You start your shift on a clean bench, microscope focused, soldering iron warmed. You’ll join lead wires to terminals and SMD pads with steady hands and precise technique. From there, you’ll build out electro-mechanical subassemblies, cable harnesses, and finished units—prepping surfaces for adhesives, performing careful potting and curing, and verifying every step meets rigorous quality standards and production timelines. You’ll also keep the tools of the trade in shape by performing routine maintenance on assembly equipment and documenting work to close the loop on safety and quality.

Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $25.00

Type of Position: Temporary to Hire

Core contributions

• Solder lead wires to terminals and SMD pads to tight workmanship standards.
• Assemble electronic and electro-mechanical components into subassemblies, cable assemblies, and final products.
• Prepare and clean surfaces for adhesive applications to ensure bond reliability.
• Execute potting and curing operations using adhesives and encapsulants.
• Perform routine maintenance on electronic assembly equipment.
• Complete assigned production tasks in alignment with safety and quality procedures.

What you bring

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 3+ years in progressively complex electro-mechanical assembly roles.
• Certification: J-STD-001 preferred.
• Technical strengths: Proficient in both surface-mount and through-hole soldering.
• Documentation fluency: Able to interpret BOMs, datasheets, work instructions, and technical drawings.
• Foundations: Understanding of basic electrical components and assemblies.
• Materials know-how: Familiar with adhesives, potting compounds, and SDS procedures.
• Tempo: Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment.

Physical demands

• Frequent handling of small components, tools, and assembly equipment using fine motor skills.
• Regular reaching, grasping, and precision manipulation.
• Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Close and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
